    With usually 30 - 40 mph wind.cherry

Today I hit it in the bushes!!

But it was 79* today and I shot an 85.
Do those power lines supply the windmill?
No power lines....they are wired that support the pole that is topped by an ospery nest. In fact, there are 8 osprey nests around the course. The supports help when the hurricane winds come off the ocean and across the bay.

    Typical round time - 4:15
    Cost (county resident) - $18:)

I've played 4 rounds in the past 6 days. king  I'm a bit tired, but feel great!

Wednesday I was in company league play for position round for next weeks final. I'm in 3rd place and they are all jealous of the noob. Shot a 41 for 9.

Friday I played my local track with cousins on my wife's side. Shot an 86. Not great/not bad.

Sunday I (we) got a great deal at Foxwoods Casino. Room and golf for $500. I won at the craps table and paid for the weekend!!!cheers Also got $50 credit in casino and $30 credit for breakfast. Shot a 85 at Lake of Isles north course. Not bad for a first timer there.

Today I played Bethpage Blue and shot a 79!!!!!!bounce  That's with 5 3-putts!! I was hot everywhere. Drives were perfect, approaches were within 10 feet and my putting was really good - except for the occasional 3-putt.

A bud I played with today told me, "Golf is 80% mental.....the rest is in your head!"

WOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!! I love myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!geek geek queen flower elephant cherry drunken affraid

Had to play nine at the crack of dawn today to entertain an old friend. He's even older than I, but he likes to play nine, walking with a trolley, and he likes to do it too fucking early.

I pulled a 44 right out of my ass after hardly playing at all the whole summer. Not bad at all. And he put up a very nice 48 for a creaky relic.

Pulled out some old school gear, too:

Louisville Pro F2…..14° custom persimmon driver
Louisville Niblick…..17, 20, 23° custom persimmon fairway woods
Spalding Executive (1977)….. #s 2, 4-9 irons, PW (vintage club lofts)
    NGC Condor….. sand iron
    Slighter Belleview….. putter
    _____Wilson Staff Duo…..ball (yellow)
    _____Jones "Rider" bag

The steel shafted irons didn't even hurt, although my hands are quite swollen now. It was a nice morning. Just got home.

5 iron Maxfli A10 tour ltd Tp3 ball, I tried to cook a draw, it went straight it was only 181, or 183 I aimed middle of green, but it plays a club extra due to elevation. I add 10 yards. The hole can play 155 or 196 7 to almost a 3 wood, I hate the hole. Plus trees all on left, so you almost always want a draw.

    Today's round was fun, but...........

I always bring snacks with me. Usually a bag of trail mix (nutz and M&M's and raisins) and fruit (an apple or bannanas).

So I get back in the cart after the 6th and reach down......and.......GONE!!

Motherfu*king fox has stolen my trail mix and bannanas. He's on the 7th fairway - par3 - munching away!! So I start yelling, "I hope you fu*king die from eating all that chochlate!!"

Guys on the adjacent hole are looking at me with scared looks until I told them what happened.

I've seen crows open my friends' bag and take his turkey sandwich!

Fox are good for thinning out the trash critters like rodents and rabbits so I wouldn't begrudge them some real good chow. Now at the muni-by-the-reservoir near me, the primary snack-stealers are these real big crows and are probably real ravens. I like my cheese and peanut butter crackers on the course (and in the office) and buy them all the time in the Local Grocery Chain Store. Next time I'm tempted to bag my Glock 19 clone .177 cal. pellet pistol, a CO2 powered eight shot semi. One lead hollow point pellet in crow/raven head would both ruin its day and save the cheese and peanut butter crackers of the muni golf course world. Don't even mention squirrels.

Played today at a 6,500 yard course.  Shot 73. Driver was working quite well and I got up and down pretty much every time I needed to. Two sand saves and several very good iron shots. My putter was pretty hot and I made 3 putts of around 15 feet. Not one birdie. Used the Callaway 2007 X-Forged and Ping G5 Driver. Taylormade Rossa Monza Corza putter.

73 with no birdies is pretty good.
The SPCC is very lopsided in terms of difficulty from front to back. We underwent a re-design and now, there are only 3 holes that are relatively easy on the front, and 6 that are pretty tough from the back tees. Even the 3 easy-ish holes have at least one difficult aspect (tee shot, green, etc.). I feel like if I can get through the front in a couple over, that's like playing an even par round on the back.
Playing the backs, I shot a 2 over 73 on Friday (4 birdies, putter on fire, no real mistakes). 2 birdies on par 3's, which is pretty rare for me.
Then on Saturday in a comp from the middle tees, I shoot a 6 over. Nothing really working well, and only one birdie. The birdie didn't even matter because two guys on my team made par/net birdie. Luckily I didn't have time to make any side bets, because I would have made plenty, and lost plenty.

For the past year I've been using the Callaway Hex Black Tour. Sometimes I use the Hex Chrome. Both are very good at delivering the precise spin that an accomplished golfer like myself needs. I don't like balls that spin too much. Much of that has more to do with the grooves on the iron face than the ball itself.

The Mizuno Comp-EZ irons spin way too much for my taste. I don't know what they did to those grooves but they put out more spin than Obama.

Front nine at gleannloch pines is done.. 3 jacked for bogey on 8, slippery downhiller, and missed 4 ft par putt on 9, screwed my way to 40.  Making turn now... 70 something still in reach.. Hitting Nike blades well... Playing 6600 yards today I think..

<< well, sheite.  Back tightened up at the turn.  Couldn't get through the ball on the back side.  Shanked one into lateral water hazard, stopped flushing the irons, couldn't hit a fairway on the back even though I didn't miss one on the front..  :-(

I can hit 150 balls in 45 minutes on the range, but put me out on the course sweating (96*, humidity probably above 80%) and taking long breaks between shots, and my lower back still seizes on me.  :-(  I hoped the weight loss would help that.  So far, no good.

I was +2 through 7, and in good shape for pars on 8 and 9 but stabbed putts.  But the back nine was too much for me.  :-(  Maybe when it cools down some.  I ended up with 85.  I was hitting it really well, too.

Bottom line, those new Nike TW forged blades are excellent.  :-)  But my back is killing me.  Time to go forget my troubles with a margarita.

    Hi all

Ran down to PGA for a looong weekend. I've played 3 rounds with the X20's. Oh man, do these clubs get up in the air! They play 2* more than my TA 845s but they get twice the height!

I've played smArt course mNagement this week, put the driver away and i'm on the fairways and hitting GIRs!! Im averaging 83 so far

Its been 93* and about 98% humidity. Ive been starting at 7am so we beat the heat, kinda.

My local guy regripped all my clubs with some Golfpride stuff made specifically for Florida climate. Not one grip slip today.

Back to long island tomorrow Sad

So that's exactly what the weather's been like here in Baltimore and in southern PA where I played on Saturday. I have Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2G's on all my clubs except for putters and sand wedge. Some of them are in their third season on the same shafts but in different iron heads. I wash them with cold water and towel them dry after each round or practice session and they remain as tacky as new. On course when its hot and sticky, I towel them off before each shot. Not much of a bother because I need to towel off my face before each shot too.

Played a primer round yesterday for our member-guest that starts this week. I haven't played the white tees much at all this year, so I wanted to get some ideas where my landing areas are on a few of the trickier holes. We also had a couple holes totally redesined, and I haven't played them on every tee box.
I'm not sure on strategy. I've got a couple holes where driver either puts me great or really bad. I almost feel like I should play the holes with the tee shot that gives me the same yardage as if playing the blues/blacks. Obviously exceptions, but there are some risk/rewards that are unavailable when playing normally. I guess it depends on how my partner is playing, but what I've come to expect out of him is to never expect a certain score after the tee ball.
I have been playing pretty well lately, but my handicap reflects it.

Well, things didn't go exactly great in the member/guest.
I got one of two skins in the practice round, so that paid for the weekend. Our practice round strategy was pretty sound. I try for birdies, my partner (who got a lot of strokes) would try for net pars. I was making some putts, he was staying in a lot of holes and making plenty of easy bogeys. We didn't cash in the practice round, but we were close and won some side bets.
Our day one points were 8 out of a possible 30. Almost DFL in the whole event. I made one birdie in 27 holes, but didn't play terribly. In our first two 9 hole matches, the teams we played against were both -6 net. That's unbeatable. Our last match was a bit more equitable, but we still got crushed, thanks to some really bad play out of HB.
For day 2, we did very well. 14 points (out of 20), which was the most in our flight. Day 2 money covered all gambling losses.
    Fun weekend for sure.

Shot a 69, 2 under par (71.9/132) at 6522 yards. Out at 3 under with a birdie and an eagle and 7 pars, in with 2 bogeys, 6 pars, and a birdie on 18. It was almost dark when we finished. PR and first round under par.

Great round. Statistics generated by national golf organizations for years indicated that 10% or fewer male American golfers break 100 with any regularity. I assume that the percentages decline on some sort of slope for the 90, 80 and 70 benchmarks. Consider yourself amongst the Elite of the Links.

I remember years ago in the '80's pairing up with a fellow club member around noon on a summer Sunday. The first tee was packed so we told the pro we'd go off on #10 and he OK'd it. The other guy was about a 4 and I was about 9 at the time. I shot a 33 which was two under for the nine and we were going to play 18 but the first hole was again too crowded when we got off 18 so we bagged it and went into the men's grill and drank a lot.

Good friends, good chatter and good play by me. I've placed my hands just ever so slightly forward, thereby creating an effortless "trapping" of the ball that has given me an extra 5 yards but, I dare say, a tad bit too much spin. I'm loving my Taylormade Tour Burner irons.

Anyone else shoot a 74 this weekend? I thought not.

    Cheers.
