... but IMO , he needs more "killer shots" in order to move up to the next level . I believe in Patrick Reed who has more of those killer shots... but what the hell do I know... Congrats to Jordan again, I wish him well... he could get a lot of pusssssssssssy if he wanted now.

I like Spieth and think he will do very well. I like Reed a whole lot and hope he bags a major soon. He can hook the ball and should be able to play Augusta. I watched a post round interview with J.B. Holmes recently. If you are familiar with Raymond Floyd, this kid reminds me of him a lot.

Spieth's a great guy, I've been around him. Reed was actually voted off his college team because his teammates couldn't stand him but was reinstated by the coach.

I don't know these 2 young guns, but I believe they have nice personality. Last wk there was a "Arnold and Me" show on the golf channel , I like and respect him even more now... BTW he looked cool with a cigarette when he was really young... IMO, Lydia Ko looks much older without her old glasses, I love the old look

I remember watching some of those guys when I was a kid. There used to be a PGA tour event at the White Marsh Valley Country Club located in the suburbs from Center City Philadelphia. I saw Arnie, Player, Nicklaus, Casper, Snead, et al. in the early '60's when Nicklaus was a pudgy baby-faced young 20-something. Lots of them smoked cigarettes on-course besides Palmer. Nicklaus and Player burned a bunch too. The last time I saw Arnie, Jack and Gary was around 1998 at the senior tour event up near Oxford at that new course called Hartsfeld National owned by a Philly restauranteur. It was cool to go to those events on Fridays because the galleries were thin and you could get right up next to the players, especially on the tees. Seeing these guys again after almost 40 years reinforced my belief that you can play golf so long as you are still vertical. Player was always a pipsqueak compared to the other guys. I think the only smaller player was Chi Chi. I saw Chi Chi last time at the DC tour stop at TPC Avenel in 2000. Mickelson was the big draw but I could have cared less about a left-hander and followed Chi Chi a bit. Old Juan was a real trip. You had to watch him closely starting from when he pulled a club from his bag or got handed one by his caddie. On some shots including tee shots, he would hit his shot no more than three seconds after he put his ball on the tee. No pre-shot routine bullshit. And he was deadly accurate that day.

In the late '50's or early '60's, one of the cigarette manufacturers was so impressed with Palmer's on-course smoking that it made a special brand of smokes so you could be just like Arnie. If you are old enough to remember him on TV or have watched historical footage, Palmer would light one up before hitting a shot, take a couple of drags, and then pitch the remainder off to the side before addressing the ball. So he only smoke part of it.

Nowadays the fucking smokes are so expensive due to the weak-kneed politicians bowing to the hysterical ninnies who populate the anti-tobacco lobby that sometimes I will stub mine out before playing a shot and put it back in the pack so I can light the rest of it up later.

Hartsfeld National is only less than 10 miles from my house , off route 41... beautiful course and I am surprised it's still there because every time I drive by I rarely see any players.. Senior PGA played it until about 5 yrs ago. My VP lives in there who is one of the members

I imagine that it is pretty expensive to play the course if the public can even get on to it. The same guy built one pretty near me just off the I-95
Mountain Road (MD RT 152) maybe 20 years ago. I have not played it yet but once or twice a year my club has events there. It is the most expensive of all our course. I was told that the main reason the senior tour left Hartsfeld was due to its topography. A real b!tch to walk even with a caddie. Most of the senior players I watched either let their caddies take the carts or made the caddies walk and drove the carts themselves.

If I wanted to play that course and told my wife, she would want to come along and would spend the time in the casino and out near the finish line. And I would probably have a lot less money than just the golf fees afterwards.
