This is the closest resemblance to the Ping Eye 2 that I have seen from Ping since, well, the Ping Eye 2. I have to say that I'm impressed with Ping's decisions on this iron. Clearly management sent a message to the R&D folks to knock it off and quit putting high tech in place of function. These irons look sleeker and less obnoxious than the G15 and G20. At the same time, they look much better than the G2, G5 or G10.
I have no doubt that this iron will be a big hit for Ping. I've hit the i20 and as much as I like the feel and distance I just can't get over the way they look at address. It's a smallish head, which I like. However, I don't like the squared-off look they have at address. I like a club to have more of an open faced look to it, like the Ping Eye 2. Hard to describe.
I'm looking forward to hitting this irons on a demo day. Of course I will never buy them new.
