    iPhone 6 and 6+ Empty iPhone 6 and 6+

Post  FamousDavis Wed Oct 22, 2014 12:41 am

I went to the Apple Store over the weekend.  You know, you're walking down the mall, just ate a See's candy along with the free one they give out and you're pretty much sick and tired of all the lame stores, except for Spencer Gifts where they have mugs with boobs on them.

Then I go into the Apple store and I feel like I'm in a completely different place.  I check out the iPhone 6 (the smaller version) and it is much bigger than my iPhone 5 that I bought almost 2 years ago.  Everything in that store is so cool.  The iphone 6+ is friggin' huge for a cell phone but then again I'm thinking it could eliminate my need for an iPad.  Not that I need an iPad.  I rarely use it except to keep my kids occupied while I'm trying to enjoy golf.

What I really want is something that provides enough size for good surfing but also can act as a phone.  With bluetooth I may have that covered in that I could just keep the iPhone 6+ in my pocket while accepting phone calls from all the babes I find on online dating sites.  I may need to buy some more cargo shorts just for this purpose.  Of course, the blue tooth earpiece will immediately make me a hypocrite and will include me in the mass of morons I see walking around with an earpiece with a little blue light in it. I've made fun of these people for years but if you can't beat 'em, join 'em is what I've always said.

Don't peg me as an Apple loyalist because I am not.  I much prefer a PC for my laptop and home compute.  However, when it comes to Smartphones and tablets I just love the Apple stuff.  I have strongly considered the Samsung s5 or that new LG that looks pretty cool. Problem with all those Android phones is that they can be buggy. I have never had 1 problem with any of my iphones. There are things I don't like, like iCloud, but other than that the iPhone is worry free.

The way they have that store set up it just makes you want to buy a new product.  I didn't so I'm kind of proud of myself.  Being a cheap bastard doesn't hurt either.

My mother and her sister loved See's candy. I remember when I was very young in the 1950's that they would take me and my cousin to Knott's Berry Farm when we visited out west and the women bought See's candy. Maybe that was the only place you could get it back then. My favorite thing to do at that park was to pan for gold. As of a couple of years ago, I still had a small vial of the precious dust in water than I must have panned around 1958 or so. I think I lost it. A couple of grams could have bought me a dozen new golf balls that I could play with. Probably not the Pro V's but at least something with decent spin off wedges and true rolling on the greens. Oh well.

I got the regular 6 two weeks ago. Coming from a 4S, it looks huge. I don't think all the apps have been sized to fit the new phone. Within certain apps, you have to touch lower than the button displays. I'm sure that the apps will correct this problem shortly. I had my 4S for about 3 years and was tired of the 3G network, which is pretty much the only reason I got the new phone.

I'm like you with regards to Apple. I like their phones/tablets (though I've never tried any other tablet), but prefer PC's. Seems like HTC is pushing their sound quality, and Samsung is pushing their photo/video quality. I have better options for sound/photo than any phone can provide so these aren't too important to me. I had a Samsung prior to my iphone 4S that was a total nightmare. I'm just too familiar with the iphone nav and don't find it lacking, so why switch?

I thought the 6+ looked a bit ridiculous. Way too big to fit in my front pocket, especially with the skinny jeans I am likely to be wearing. Even the regular 6 has got me thinking about getting some new jeans, which is of course an exciting proposition.

I find during those times I own Apple stock I'm horny for their products. Right now I don't so I'm not. Of course what I buy won't make the stock blip but it's kind of confirming.

So along the way I have picked up an iPhone 5S and an iPad2.  I have a MacBook I picked up during my first period of Apple stock ownership but that collects dust except when I need to print something or have problems with email on the iPad.

If I spent a little time troubleshooting printing and email I don't think I would use my laptop again except for spreadsheets.  I don't see myself getting an iPhone 6, the 5 is fine, unless it begins to break down and I own the stock again. My iPhones typically last 2 1/2 years and then start breaking. I suspect it's designed in.

Using the keyboard on an iPad is a little bit of a pain in the ass but I usually dictate, as I did this post.

I was at Costco today and took another look at the iphone 6 and 6+. I'm really liking the 6+ but I've seen other people with overly large cell phones and it just looks silly. One of my golfing buddies has this curved smart phone that looks ridiculous (not sure who makes it).

I have to say, I took a look at the new HTC and it knocks the Apple iPhone 6 out of the park in terms of clarity, photos, etc. Also, when I look at the home screen it just looks better to me. This is odd because the only smartphone I've owned other than iPhone is the Blackberry back in 2007. So, I basically have no experience with Android software. To me, it just seems logical that if I'm a PC guy on my home computer that a google-based software would make things easier.

I've got a flip phone with no data service and texting disabled on the account so I don't have to pay for incoming texts. All of the local take out restaurants are on speed dial along with my doctors and a few relatives. It's just a telephone--nothing else.

I got the Nexus5 around March of this yr for $349 (16 GB internal memory)... Extremely happy with it. Google came out with Nexus6, too big for me and too much money for what I really need
