It's a snowblower. The last couple of years I paid $750 per year to have the driveway plowed. I shoveled the walk and decks. I've decided that's stupid. I love being outside in the falling/fresh snow, I love cool machines and I love saving $. So why not do it myself? You can get a rad snowblower for less than the cost of two years plowing.

This bad boy is a two stage, 357cc, self propelled 7 forward speeds, 2 reverse, 30" wide, power joystick controlled throw chute monster. You can throw the snow more than 50 feet… deep into your neighbors yard. We're talking black with an orange jaw. Bring it on…

I probably haven't purchased anything from Sears in 20 years. But this is the one to get and there is a local mom-and-pop dealer not far who can troubleshoot problems if they arise.

    I know you want one…

I chuckle at the guys here in the Mid Atlantic who rush out at the first blizzard warning to Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, Ace Hardware etc to buy snow blowers and snow melt chemicals. My snow removal machinery for the past decade has been an ABS plastic bladed snow shovel I bought at the Home Depot just after we moved into our current domicile. I have a driveway, sidewalk, parking pad and rear patio area to clear. On the few occasions when we had more than 6-10", it just took a bit longer. When it approaches a foot, nothing here moves anyway.

It does seem frivolous living in the DC metro. I'm surprised they even stock them there. At the same time these things are at the very edge of the home machine spectrum in terms of power and cool.

As long as snow falls more than occasionally over several inches and one has the space they make sense for a certain kind of person.

I doesn't get below 60 in these parts so i won't be needing one. Sounds like fun, though.

I've had a two stoke blower for the past 20 years. Single stage, rubber impeller, nothing fancy. Does the job up to 10" of snowfall, which is above average for these parts. When we get a real dump - 2 feet or more - I call Elmer and Javier, who come in the dump truck with the gigantic road plow on the front. Takes them all of 10 minutes and I give them $75. Glad they were around the last two years as we got pummeled with snow from some crazy blizzards.
Just a few more years of that white crap and I won't be giving it a second thought.

I think it was 1993 we had some snow collect for a few minutes on the north side of Mt. Soledad. But not even enough for snowballs.

I guess the SD equivalent of a snowblower would be a lawn tractor kinda sort of.

I used Elmer and Javier year last year or at least their equivalent. They collected a first payment of $75 and then I never saw them again. They plowed reliably each time but outside my presence and never got paid after the first time. Haven't been able to find them.

Figured I wouldn't get the same deal this year.

The snow is all removed from my driveway and steps before I drag my ass out of bed. I'm WAY too old for that shit.
