Wow, I've actually watched 15 episodes of this show. I like Kevin Spacey so that helps. Generally speaking, I think these shows have too many episodes. I tried watching "The Following" but after 5 episodes I realized that it was basically the same thing over and over with too much literary liscense. I watched two episodes of Orange is the new Black (stupid).

So, my warning of not watching it until you have some free time to commit to it was warranted?
The second season isn't as good, btw. No spoilers, just a fact.

Re: House of Cards
Haven't started the 2nd season yet, but watched the 1st last year.
I really hope the writers/producers have an end in sight, and don't just continue to re-up because of popularity. It needs to end with Kevin Spacey getting elected president then immediately assassinated by one the hundreds of people he screwed over on his way to the top.
There was a show about 5 or 6 years ago on network TV called Prison Break that had a really good first season. They broke out of prison at the end of the first season, then the show took a terrible turn for the worse. After the 2nd season, my wife and I both agreed that the show had lost its purpose and had become unwatchable.

The trajectory of the first season continues and there are good moments. But, it's much harder to do things, like have affairs with reporters, once you are in the white house. That's all I'm going to say about this...
I read an article about series. Basically the equation goes like this. Get the guy hooked with violence, sex, drugs, etc. He controls the remote. About the 2nd or 3rd season, progress to involved relationships/drama to appeal to the women. By the end of the 2nd season most men have moved on but the women like the complexities of these personal relationships and they'll continue watching. There are a few exceptions, but most series follow this basic recipe. Breaking Bad was awesome because it never faltered from the original purpose. But then they planned the 5 seasons from the beginning...

Re: House of Cards
Finished watchinng House of Cards. It got more and more rediculous with each episode. Some of it was pretty twisted and gross.

No, just the first one.
