    Fresh irons! Empty Fresh irons!

Just went to Golf Galaxy buy my wife a pink visor. Found a used set of Nike TW forged blades... With my rare favorite, the TT Black Gold shaft in Stiff.... A bit worn on the backs but all the faces are great.. Must have been in a garage for a long time, backs are a tiny bit rusty on some of them... But very little used... 4 iron through gap 52... $200 ... probably overpaid but the BG shafts lured me... Can't wait to hit them... Will report with pics soon. :-)

That's actually a good price for those irons. If you go on Ebay you'll see several sets in the $300's. In fact, I recently sold a set of the Nike TW forged blades that had X100U shafts for $349. They were in 9/10 condition.

I think you will like them, Big D, as they feel great and truly play like blades. Fresh irons! Ymca

Good score if those shafts fit you. As long as the faces and soles are good, that's all that matters. Hell, the only things you do to the backs is put lead tape on them and if the surfaces are roughed up a bit, the tape will stick better. My local Golf Galaxy had a set of them last week (3-PW) with some sort of gorrilla shafts in them like Project X 7.0's with the ultra jumbo grips and the sticker was about $359. I suspect that they'll be there for some time unless a gorilla like Fluffy or Hubijerk stop by.

these Black Gold shafts are in my Adams paddles, the best and straightest and most consistent irons I ever bagged.. I know it's the shafts.. they just suit me.. can't believe I found some, in an iron I want to play, in excellent condition too. Got the Sergio white compounds on 'em, great condition. size seems like standard plus one wrap, they're not midsize but they feel bigger than standard.. like someone customized a set of irons for me. :-)

I'm no Gorilla, in fact I'm getting smaller and smaller every day, nights working trauma in Vegas have got me down 30 lb's in the last few months and I'm fast approaching 175 which I haven't been in years, haven't been to the gym much either, just running my golf course 3 nights a week or so.  I just have a good turn, flexible strong wrists and I accelerate, I've had to stop some of my old power moves when I switched to this new swing as I had kind of a leaper old Tiger type move into impact, great for power, hard on the joints, and certain death if that creeps into you're iron game.  I have yet to get 1 400 yards but I've been close.  When I remember I'll video a drive or two when I'm out there, maybe tomorrow and I'll throw in some swings with the 3 deep which came in earlier today.

Actually we should have a thread where everybody put's a video of their swing, it would be interesting to see what some of you characters look like, and swing like...

Before my father died, he told me that among the hundreds of 8 and Super 8 millimeter film cans he gave me was some color footage of Arnold Palmer hitting a 400 yard drive at a course in Las Vegas. May have been the Desert Inn. This was at a special Monday event all the Tour pros held the day after the regular Vegas tournament ended and it was held to commemorate the untimely death of rising star Tony Lema. I think it was in 1963 or '64. May father used to go out to Vegas regularly to play golf and gamble and was probably there for the PGA Tour event.
