A thank you to all that have served this country and especially to those that have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Thanks. The funny (as in irony, not humor) is that all the guys I served with in Vietnam and friends from home who also served in Vietnam lived through the experiences but some died in the U.S. not long after they left active duty. I thank God that I do not have to serve today under the current Commander in Chief. Mine were LBJ and Nixon and even LBJ was an American patriot.

Toughest man I know, served 2 tours in Vietnam as point man.
Had 2 weeks left on the second tour, and had both his legs blowed off.
Refused to feel sorry for himself, and conditioned those stumps to wear artificial legs.

I don't know anyone that ever beat the guy at chess, checkers, board games, or about anything he put his mind to. He was a star athlete in high school, but soon was drafted. We had many a great discussion on politics, religion, and war, life in general. He's an avid reader, and devours news, and has always been mostly unbiased.
He also clearly told me Vietnam was like, we were a bad dog that was kept on a leash.
We're still great friends, and keep in touch, have for 30 years. I promised him I will be visiting him around the 4th.

He called me shortly after the last election to tell me he voted for Obama. I will admit I was shocked by his admission.. He hated Clinton, and grew up in a deeply segregated south, and is admittedly a racist, though softened over time. Keeps a lot inside, but absolutely hates stupidity in leadership.

Sounds like a good guy. I guess since he voted for Obama and hates stupidity in leadership, he does not regret his vote because Obama has shown an absolute zero in leadership.

I can't think of one Republican I know who actually liked Romney. Or his VP Ryan, for that matter. The current Repubs have to have the stupidest leadership of any party in history.
