I am not a hero worshiper by nature, but here is a man I looked upon as a hero. May the good people of Venezuela find piece and prosperity in the years to come.

Another Fallen Hero
Hugo Chavez, beloved liberator of Venezuela, died of cancer today. He was only fifty-eight years old.
I am not a hero worshiper by nature, but here is a man I looked upon as a hero. May the good people of Venezuela find piece and prosperity in the years to come.

Found an interesting article. Like the quote one of the commenters made. "Behind every great evil was a promise of Utopia. But we forget Utopia was built on the back of slaves chained in gold."

Alas. Despite all the best medical care available for the treatment of such a malady. Of anywhere in the World. Cuba. Must have been God's Will. All righty then. Now the damn gas better go down below three bucks a gallon.

Obviously, this place is a den of fascist cretins, just like Golf Review.
I was just mourning a fallen hero, not initiating a political discussion, and rather than choosing between offering condolences and keeping your mouths shut, you had to contribute bullshit instead.
Whoever it was that said, "If you want a friend, get a dog" was right on the money. FD just started more of the same, I guess.

It was the term "fallen hero" that did it.

So 'facist cretins' basically means anybody that doesn't agree with your idealized view of the world?

I didn't let you chew on "fascist cretins" until you decided to quibble with "fallen hero."

Re: Another Fallen Hero
Chavez is going to be buried in a glass case just like all the great heros of the world. Mao, Lenin, Ho Chi Minh, and the Kims, father and son from North Korea. HHMMM, what do all those notable leaders have in common? Personality cults, corruption and the deaths of countless people. Yep, a real hero alright.

Forgot to include Yessir Assahat. What they all have in common with the possible exception of Uncle Ho is that they looted their respective treasuries and bribed their ways to become very wealthy men. Perhaps some of them were ushered into Dirt-Napdom sooner than Nature would have provided. The Russians with their Polonium 210 protocol proved that no one is really immune.

Probably another reason for my tirng of golf....
fifty-plus years of proximity with wingnut crackers.
Although in this case, my instincts tell me to think Fulgencio Battista/Marco Rubio lover from Florida. Just a feeling.

I see the Iron Lady has passed away.
Now there's a REAL fallen hero.

Amen to that brother. When she and Ronnie double-teamed the Commie Bastards, they were running away with their tales between their legs.

I seriously disliked both Reagan and Thatcher. People of different mindsets have different heroes, obviously.

Re: Another Fallen Hero
Any human elected by a vote of other humans does not qualify for hero status in my book no matter what the qualifications or accomplishments. Unless that human races into a burning building to save people or something like that.

Well Thatcher smashed the Trade Unions in Britain that were previously holding the country to ransom and made the country productive again so it stands to reason that you would seriously dislike her.

Re: Another Fallen Hero
The way the word hero gets tossed around these days is absolutely ridiculous. I would say my folk's dog is a hero for not crapping on the floor for over a year.

M I C K E Y, M O U S E. RIP Annette. Did I ever want to f*ck your lights out when I was 10 years old. However, techically Annette would be a heroine instead of hero. As opposed to its homophone "heroin" which is nicely used when almost pure and white and dribbled down a filtered cigarette that, when smoked, leaves almost no telltales for others and produces an exquisite soothing buzz lasting quite awhile. As learned in Hong Kong circa 1970.
