Sweet! Tiger is 5 under par and just one shy of the lead. Cadillac Championship Smiley-excited001

Meanwhile, Rory is close to last place at 2 over par. Cadillac Championship Smiley-laughing011

This is going to be a great tournament. I'm hoping Dustin Johnson and Tiger end up in the final pairing. The last thing we need is a couple of no name farm boy types who take 15 practice swings and 2 minutes to hit a shot.

Tiger and Dustin were paired up last week. Wifeys' two faves together. But DJ needs to loose that muskrat he's growing on his face.

FD, if Dustin Johnson starts playing consistently well and moves to the top of the world rankings, are you going to start hating him?

Why do you say that? I like Rory Mcilroy but I think it's incredibly stupid for him to have changed equipment. The only popular players I don't like on tour are:

    Mickelson
    Westwood
    Stricker
    Els

I'm actually growing to like Keegan Bradley. Oh, I don't particularly like Webb Simpson either. He's a belly-putting bible thumper who wears Ralph Lauren. That's just a combo I have a hard time coming to terms with.

Besides the belly putter, you could have been describing Davis Love the turd.

I tend to agree with your shitlist although I have softened my stance on lefty since his 6 iron from the pine straws at Augusta. Best shot I have ever seen and took a huge pair to even attempt it. Phil may be a baby off the course but he plays golf like a real man.

FD... why do U always vote for Tiger rather than whoever plays better wins? Granted TW has proven himself more so than others, but if others play better for a certain tourney, then be it... Tiger should earn the title just like everyone else, not because he's better

Your comments on Phil are good ones. I'll be the first to admit that he's an exciting player to watch. I've seen him do amazing things and then I've seen him blow major championships like no one else can. I guess that's what makes him a great player.

Off the course, I just can't stand him. I feel like turning off the TV every time I see a post round interview with the guy. He's a know it all and his answers are completely scripted. Plus, I've never heard anyone who is that successful complain so much. It gets old real fast. Plus, he's milked the whole "nice guy" thing so much that now it just makes me want to vomit.

I missed today's play live but suspect that it will be repeated on the Channel tonight so I'll watch it after the OL goes to bed. I understand that Donald Trump has bought the club and promises to demo the existing course and spend boodles of moolah remaking it into something au courrant. This field is really small and I wonder if there is a halfway cut involved. Seems that many in the ranks of the PGA Tour Supporting Cast are whacking it around in the San Juan burbs simultaneously. Well not quite since the island is a bit ahead of EST. Soon to be replace by EDT. Damn if that dang old time don't fly faster than my new Top Flite Gamer V2's.

What a great leaderboard. This is shaping up as the best non major in years. I hope the entire field shoots even par the next 2 days so they start sunday the same as now. Id love to see tiger and sergio in the last group, it would be awesome to watch tiger give him another sunday stomping. Maybe Sergio could go the full tweety bird outfit again for old times sake. Tiger cruching Sergio in the last group on a sunday to win the tournament could never get old. Of all tiger's majors, my favourites are the ones when he whomped Sergio.

One of my favorite finishing holes is #18 on this course and hopefully I will be able to watch it live as the contenders go through Sunday afternoon. I almost like this hole as much as Riviera's 18th and certainly more than Augusta's. I just hope that whoever wins this thing is baggin a putter with a length equal to or lesser than 36".

To answer PK's question, Tiger is my favorite player to watch and that's why I root for him. I don't root against other players, unless they are stuffy dudes like Webb Simpson, Davis Love or Jim Furyk. Also, I'm not a big fan of Stricker. He's a good player and a nice guy but I get really tired of hearing about how he almost gave up the game a few years ago and all this praise for him cutting his schedule to spend more time with his family. Barf. The guy is in his mid 40's and has no reason to cut down his schedule. I'm sure he has tons of time off to spend with family. Give it a rest.

I've always liked Sergio and enjoy seeing him on the leaderboard. He's bent because he knows he should have won a few majors by now and that the flat stick is his nemesis. Nothing he can do about that but 'claw' his way through it.

Dustin should have 3 major wins by now. He should be the World #1 but he's had a few unlucky breaks as well as a few choke jobs at key moments in majors. I think he's works out too much.

Rory...I don't know. The equipment change could be the single worst career move of a PGA Tour pro in the history of the game. It would be tough to beat Payne Stewart's switch to Top Flite but Rory is twice the player that Payne was. You know what? I watched a couple of drives that Rory hit yesterday and that damn driver SOUNDS bad. It doesn't sound anything like the driver he used to hit straight down the middle and 310 yards. What a fool. rabbit

Stricker is the one I like to watch the most since his swing most resembles what mine is edging towards especially with the irons and short pitches.

So, how many Majors would Tiger have won if he wasn't playing those inferior sticks? And to think that he was in the nike stable long before nike had anything worth talking about. Yes, you can get custom irons made with a swish for Tiger but not a driver or woods. This probably speaks more to Tiger's talent than anything else. Tiger is now in first place. With any luck he can avoid a pairing with Mickelson tomorrow. The last thing he needs is an annoying distraction. Graham or Bubba would be good partners to ensure another win by Woods. Cadillac Championship Smiley-happy057

Tiger and Phil is the dream pairing for promoters. Rory was flavour of the month but when it comes down to it tiger and phil are the big 2. There is no big 3 or 4. Phil is the only player out there who has earned the right to challenge tiger. The rest are chump change.

Yes, Tiger now owns Rory since it was Tiger who facilitated Rory's Nike windfall and money speaks louder than golf. So until the day when Rory publicly throws off the check-marked cloak and holds a 913 high over his head on the first tee, he'll be playing his fiddle behind the the first chair.

I have never been a conspiracy theorist. However, when you take a close look at what has transpired over the last year it really does make you wonder.

Rory blasts onto the scene and wins his second major, obtains the World No. 1 ranking and is clearly labeled as the next great golfer. I don't think anyone can dispute that. Rory-mania had taken over Tiger-mania. A new hero was emerging and an older one was fading away.

The story has been seen so many times in the past. Arnold taking over Ben Hogan's spot, Jack Nicklaus taking over Arnold's spot and then Tiger taking away Greg Norman's. That was a long time ago. Nobody has come close to taking the crown from Tiger except for a brief sprint from Duval back in 1998.

In the last year it's become obvious that Tiger has befriended Rory Mcilroy. He's taken him under his wing, so to speak. We've heard stories of them playing practice rounds together, etc.

Next, news breaks that Rory will likely be signing a major deal with Nike, to the tune of $200M? Something like that.

Next we see Tiger and Rory in commercials together.

Today, we see a struggling Rory who can't hit fairways and misses cuts. Meanwhile, Tiger has already won one tournament and is poised to at least finish very well in another one. He appears to be on top of his game--a position he maintains easily when there is nobody on the tour who can match him. Now that Rory is struggling, Tiger is doing better than ever.

Coincidence? Or, is this the biggest coup the game has ever seen? Cadillac Championship Smiley-taunt015

So far this tourney has been a putting contest... If TW and Phil are in the final group on Sunday then IMO Phil will take the trophy

Tiger and Rory is a classic case of a crafty veteran gettimg inside the head of the hotshot rookie. Just an innocent suggestion here, a questioning look there and before you know it the kid is a basket case. Tiger played Rory like a fiddle, great stuff.

Is it just me being a crotchety old fart or does that f*cking dirigible engine noise that permeates the telecast right now piss anyone else off? I wonder if you can hear it on the ground? I remember that it was real obnoxious in Hawaii too on that last round as my man Young Henley was battling the Elder Hobbit down the stretch. If I was Tiger and it bothered me, I might be tempted to tell Joe to get the Stinger out of the special pouch in the bag and drop that helium-bloated motherf*cker.

Although I've been out doing mandatory stuff this afternoon, I managed to watch TW play #18 making birdie. In all the years of watching this event, this is the best I've ever seen anyone play this hole.

From the ground, you don't hear Snoopy1 at all. You're hearing what the onboard camera picks up plus all the high gain mikes all over the course pick up too. Last week, the most obnoxious thing were the small planes towing banners saying 2 for 1 at Duffy's or other crap. I noticed they were flying very low over the neighborhood and moving so slowly, I'm suprised they didn't stall! Musta been the winds. Snoopy1 flys at least 2-3000 ft.
The other obnoxious noise are the assbags yelling, "Get in the hole!"

Tiger has found his mojo again and all is right in the golfing world. His putting and wedge play is as sharp as ever, and he is back where he belongs dominating fields. You could sense the intimidation was back today, he was making things happen out there and McDowell couldnt go with him. I think he will go on with it from here and will add to his major tally this year.

Tiger has put the cue in the rack and is cruising. Without doubt his best performance since the incident. The haters will have trouble finding fault with this win.
