Since we are now over a month old and in the middle of the prime NFL season, here's your chance to vent about your team's crappy year or gloat in anticipation of being a Super Bowl Champ. So now I congratulate the 49'ers as the NFC champs and look forward to the next game to see who will rep the AFC. If its the Ravens, it will be the Harbowl. If the Patriots, well, Nifty will be happy if he still lives with enough faculties to realize what is going on.

Finally, San Francisco is back in the Superbowl. I've waited 18 years for this. Let's make it 6 baby!

Very strange, but Famous will agree with me. We were down 17-0 and we were not even worried, like we would win anyway.

Usually, in the past I am freaking out like the game is over. We were all just chillin' and I served some more fresh raw oysters (sushi grade; I bought 30 with with a sauce, lemon, tabasco)...

Even Gary Radnich (I hate him) was saying he felt like there was no problem. I think all of us niner fans felt that way. They would have cut number 7 loose. He had a dozen opportunities to run for a touchdown, but handed it off... Poor Ravens.

I was so impressed with the way Harbaugh remained calm with a 17-0 deficit. On the next possession, he made sure that the 49ers didn't rush and try to 'catch up' with Atlanta. Instead, he had his team plod down the field with a good deal of running plays mixed with short passes. When they ran the ball in for the first touchdown I was no longer worried. At halftime I had a good feeling we'd win.

And, you're right, #7 only ran once and it was only a 14 yarder. Clearly he could have run more like he did against the Packers where he gained over 200 yards rushing. A record, BTW.

The Ravens are lucky to be in the Superbowl. Brady had an off day passing and there were several key turnovers that changed the game. I think the 49ers are a smarter and more disciplined team. 49er running game is superior. Passing game is about the same but I would argue that the 49ers have better receivers as well as a superior running back.

The big question is a QB who will only be starting his 10th game as a pro. I don't see him as a QB who will go on to have a long and illustrious career. This guy is the 5 to 7-year type. He's also not the sharpest tool in the shed, which actually could prove to be a good thing. Brady and P. Manning seem to get discombobulated during the playoffs and I have no doubt it's a result of too much brain activity.

I was going to let the over 200 yards rushing thing slide, but then you said Brady seems to get discombobulated during the playoffs. He's won more playoff games than any other QB in the history of the game, has 3 SB rings, and 2 SB MVPs. I wonder what a composed Tom Brady would do.

By the way, I really enjoyed having Spank come down to SD so that we could play golf and then watch the Niner game. Here's a shot of Spank on the 18th tee. He hit this one about 310 right down the middle. No joke.

Way to Go Frisco Empty Spank Commentary

Post  FamousDavis Tue Jan 22, 2013 8:52 pm

Last weekend I needed a birdie putt to shoot 68. Here's the video of what happened with Spank Dog commentary. As you can see and hear, the guy has no compassion. I enjoyed him flying down but man, the guy likes to talk smack!

But, most of all, I really enjoyed the comment from the 25 handicapper who joined us --"I was going to tell you soft right edge".

Finally, if you look closely, you can see Spaulding hacking away far into the background.

Brady had an off day for sure. He doesn't have any big time receivers. Welker is a slot/possession guy, not a deep threat, and the TE's aren't blowing the doors off any defense. The one time Brady had a playmaker in Moss, the 2 of them set records. Boldin made two 2nd half TD catches that no wide receiver on the Patriots could make.
Now that said, I despise the Patriots. Spygate cannot be brushed aside. Belichick is a poor sport and Brady is a whiner. I'm glad they lost, but I certainly don't feel good about the Ravens winning. I don't want another AFCN team winning anything of consequence.
    So, GO NINERS!
However, the Niners certainly didn't play a flawless game. I don't think they'll be able to start off so slowly against the Ravens. Also, their kicker is a liability and these games often come down to making a big kick.
Of course, I've picked against the Ravens for the past 2 games as well.

Nice 72, assuming you make the putt that you have to go back and replace at its original spot since no-one gave it to you..... jocolor

Yes, that's true except for the fact that I no longer cared what the score was after 3-putting the last hole. I intentionally hit the first putt hard because the only thing that mattered was making that first one. It was a par 70, so actually I shot par if you count the last 18 inch putt as a gimmie. But, again, who cares?

Only your USGA handicap index cares. That's a nice looking golf course. Where is it? It was good to see that video of Spank hitting driver. His swing looks good and simple and powerful. I'm working on simplifying my swing. Fewer moving parts, more reliability.

Gimmie putts are fine in a casual game of golf between friends. In tournaments it's different, of course. It's a pretty nice course. It's called The Vineyard in Escondido.

Oh Yeah, Spank can hammer the ball with a very simplistic swing. It's just back and through. However, it would be remiss of me if I didn't point out that I usually outdrive him by 20 yards.

If it were about the cities, I'd root for Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco.

As an East Coaster, I like that the Raisins have some good eastern college players like Rice, Flacco, and Birk.

I kind of want Baltimore to win for the preservation of the classic tall, stand up passer.

But I have no horse in this race. My football season ends once the Patriots are eliminated.

Nancy Pelosi is from Baltimore where the D'Allesandro clan ran the city with an iron liberal hand. If the Bolsheviks had the choice of just Frisco and Balto, they would chose Balto.

That's about exactly how I'm trying to get my swing to work. The least number of moving parts possible controlled by the big muscles taking any conscious hand action out of the process. Of course 310 ain't in the equation anywhere. Unlesss there's a 40* downslope or cart path involved.
