....why do people do these things? If you do them, please explain.

[list][*]When searching for a parking space, you pull toward the front and sit there in your car waiting for someone to come out of the store so that you can get a space that's very close. You will sit there for 10 minutes waiting and you're in the way of people trying to get out. Why? Why not park 50 to 100 feet away and simply walk? It takes about 10 seconds to walk 100 feet.

Why do you write a check at the supermarket, or anywhere else for that matter? You can get cash back or airline miles by using a credit card. It's much quicker and you don't hold up people in the line behind you while you take out your checkbook, write it out and then wait for approval. Do you not trust yourself to pay off your credit card balance each month? There are no fees as long as you pay it off each month. Duh.

People that rent furniture and other household items. What are you doing? Why are you paying $25 a month to rent a Quazar DVD player? Does the $150 price tag and enormity of paying all of that money up front outweigh the idea of paying $900 over a 3 year period to rent the damn thing? Did you flunk bonehead math?

That brings up the concept of layaway. This is where the store keeps the item and you give them cash every month so that eventually it will be yours. Let me get this straight...you give the store money every month yet they still have the item in their possession. Hmmmm. Just think...if you put $50 a month down on that Mercedes and you pay $20 a month...you'll have that sh!t in about 300 years!

People do strange/stupid things for stupid reasons.
My previous technician trade-in a new car every 3 yrs... because he did not want to deal with problem and liked the smell of a new car
Same tech would borrow money to go on a cruise... because he wanted to relax and take a vacation

There are many things that I don't understand. One of them is Lunchables, or really any food that is 10 times the price due to packaging. Pre-sliced apples are another example.

Driving around the parking lot looking for a close spot just shows the pure laziness.

Writing checks doesn't bother me in the least. (we've discussed that before). If your life is way too busy to wait an extra minute or two then I would say you might want to look at your priorities in life. If you were rude enough to be noticed while I'm writing a check ahead of you and you didn't like the speed of things then you damn sure wouldn't like my other speed.

Rent-a-centers are for people that can't get credit or are trying to establish credit.

Layaway works for people on lesser incomes who have a tight budget.

How about fruit cakes? You buy someone a fruit cake for Christmas knowing they will never eat it. What's up with that?

Why do guys wear flannel shirts and hiking boots to the gym? There is always one guy dressed this way in the weight room. Usually it's a long sleeve flannel shirt, those big MC Hammer pants and hiking boots. It must have something to do with feeling like a lumberjack as you pump up. What's up with that?

Clickers. You know the type. Their gas tank is full but they keep clicking the pump handle mechanism to get a few more precious drops into their tank. BTW, most of that gas is going back into the hose when you do that. What's up with that?

I don't mind the people that drive around the lot. I think FD was referring to the parking space stalkers and I too dislike them. The stalkers are the people that watch for people leaving, stalk them in their cars, and then wait for them to back out. Some will wait for 5 minutes while all of the people stuck behind them get to wait. These people are selfish and lazy.

w.r.t the driving and waiting. People are always coming and going.... I believe its the person coming out of the store to just give a show in direction if they are going to go out of their parking space...I always do this and end up saving someone alot of time. No-one has ever showed me though that they are on their way out.

I would rather complain about the asshole who comes out of the store with the bags climb in the car and wait 5minutes before getting out of the parking, while one is sitting there waiting for them to f-off....That boils my blood. Always try to atleast get out as quick as possible...

Atleast the car waiting should be on standby to give way should someone go out...Obviously he can then grab that parking...

Maybe I missed that earlier conversation, but what is the argument about writing checks? I think check writing will not exist within 5 years, hopefully sooner.
I also put everything on a credit card, which I pay off in full every month. I get rewards points, plus I get interest for the balance in my checking account. It's like an interest free loan. Granted, I make jack-shit for interest. I have been running all sorts of expenses through my credit card for quite awhile now. It basically pays for 4 round trip airline tickets per year.

I think this is an admission that you are a parking space stalker. You watch for people leaving the store and then sit there while they get into their car to leave. It upsets you that they don't do it more quickly and make you wait. Meanwhile, I've already parked a little further back and I'm already in the store while your blocking the lane.

Its a lot easier for Big Brother to track your credit card than a check. People can scan your credit card while its in your wallet depending on the type of card and their proximity. People can copy it other ways also. They know all your spending habits. Cash and checks are harder and slower to trace. IMHO, the less government and big business knows about me the better off I am.

Me too. It's a silent perk of owning a business. I push every purchase I can through my rewards card. I have enough airline miles to fly me and my wife round trip to New Zealand/Australia first class. The down side of owning my own business is I can't take any time off to take said trip.

HA! Ha! You actually get mad? Really? How trivial is that? Why not just go to an empty spot and park your car? Seems pretty simple to me.

Question, would you get mad if the bags guy put up his stuff, got in the drivers seat, started the car, stopped the car, and then went back into the store. Which would piss you off more? Because I take pleasure in pissing off people like you and I want to make sure I do it in a way that is as obnoxious as you are being holding up everyone behind you. F'ing park your car in an empty spot and quit holding up everyone else that is trying to come and go.

Another gripe I've got is yoga pants. I've found myself ogling unattractive chicks at the gym because their yoga pants have built in pads and shit that makes everyone look like they've got an unbelievable ass.
My whole world has been shaken. I've started cross-checking the ass with the midriff before mentally undressing women at the gym. It's a total time-killer that is adversely affecting my workouts.

I would rather have an unattractive woman with a great body than the other way around, any day of the week. There is this woman at the gym I belong to. She looks either Greek or Romanian and has the nicest, roundest arse I've ever seen. Her face has a lot to be desired but definitely good enough. The worst are the woman who are skeletons with abosolutely no gluteus maximus.

I'm glad we caught a parking lot stalker in our midst. Poe did a good job of flaming. I saw this the other day at Costco in one of those parking lanes that dead ends. This big SUV is just sitting there in the middle of the lane waiting for someone to come out and get into their car. It just boggles my mind. How can you be so lazy as to not want to walk 100 feet?

Now, here's another one. Why would anyone go to the DMV without first making an appointment? I went to the DMV today after making an appointment. I go to the 'appointment line' and there are two people in it. The walk-up line has about 30 people in it who look like they've been there all day. How can I be politically correct about describing these people? Well, they look like the type who watch daytime TV. I was in and out of there within 10 minutes. When I was walking toward the exit I saw the same lady standing in the same spot that she'd been in when I initially arrived.

Here in South Africa when the malls are full there really is no parking. Your furthest parking space could be 100meters without a walkway to the shop,so you have to walk where the cars are driving,if you have a trolley you are even more screwed then you cant get inbetween the cars when theres some traffic coming on from behind&infront..The closest you can ever park to the entrance to the shops where I go to is 30-40meters...Then you are still paying about R10($1.50) parking ticket...

When the missus has high heels on you also dont want to here the nagging for 100meters trying to dodge cars..

I think this is an admission that you are a parking space stalker. You watch for people leaving the store and then sit there while they get into their car to leave. It upsets you that they don't do it more quickly and make you wait. Meanwhile, I've already parked a little further back and I'm already in the store while your blocking the lane.

A better answer couldve been : " Because I live in south africa I am scared I get attacked by a lion if I park further away OR I am scared I get raped and robbed parking that extra 10meters away. No disappointed Very Happy Shocked

But seriously...A little etiquette and commen sense, not to mention a little bit of commen courtesy from the people leaving their parking space could see us "stalkers" get away a little quicker.
    pirat
+ we get to see a few honeys walking out the store and some of them are worth the extra ten seconds of waiting for a parking space.... cyclops

We in south africa are used to "Taxi's" that litterally stop and drive infront of you without warning. We have become so used to it we couldnt care what the car infront of us does...I have personally driving along a sidewalk for a few hundered meters to make a turn if traffic decided to drive sh!t infront of me... afro afro

Who cares...just do it efficient and smart and lets get on with our lives.... king

The spandex is sewn to create bumps and hide flaws, and some of them even have pads which deceive poor guys like me. I've seen some of my wife's yoga pants in the wash and they are not some simple spandex creation. They are a horrible lie.
I'll be working out and catch a glimpse of a perfect ass, only to have the woman turn around and be 50 years old with a fupa. You put her in a bikini and you'd have to look away, but in yoga pants, she's looking fine.

I disagree with you on this subject. I think Yoga pants are great. It's fine with me if what I'm seeing is better than reality. Plus, I'm only looking at this point so I'd rather have them wearing form fitting pants that hide the problem areas. Also, I don't know that the Yoga pants are designed in such a way as to make a woman's figure look better. I think it's the simple fact that most of them are black in color and are basically like Capri's that end near the shin. That type of pant always makes a woman appear thinner as opposed to pants that go all the way to the feet and are narrow at the bottom.

I'm glad were back to discussing important topics rather than something stupid like the fiscal cliff.

You'd be wrong. Certain yoga pants are 100% designed in a way to make a figure look better. Every heard of a product called Spanx? I think that's how it's spelled. It is clothes and undergarments with built in girdles and pads that make Kate Moss's ass look like a prime JLo. Dammit, where is Lorenzo?
I like the real deal. I'm not impressed with push up bras when I know the boobies are saggy when the sling comes off. If anyone should have a gripe, it's the truly hot girls who worked for their bodies who now have to live under the suspicion of faking it. Not unlike the 1990's baseball players who can't get into the HOF because of rampant PED use by their contemporaries.

OK, here's my final "I don't get it" post:

Why do people get into the Southwest Airlines departure line early and stand there? Nowadays, Southwest will issue you a ticket with either group A, B or C. Also included is a number. So, if you are A25 it means that at any time you can walk over and stand in the space that is labeled 'A 25-30'. You don't need to get there early to get in front of anyone. All you have to do is walk over to that area when they call the A group.

Yet, people will begin standing in their designated number range up to 40 minutes early.

Flying commercial nowadays is crazy. It used to be so mellow back in the '60's. Back when all the pilots were ex-military with the senior guys mostly Korean War vets and the younger guys Viet Nam vets. And there were real honest-to-God stewardesses. Young, decent to great looking, in good shape with pleasing proportions. And you could pick them up sometimes. Back then it was possible to go fire up joints in the lavatories after you reached cruising altitude and the pilot turned off the seatbelt lights and turned on the smoking lamp. The ventilation was so good in the heads that all the pot smoke was exhausted. The seats were wider and there was more legroom even in Steerage Class. They would give you hard liquor drinks for free and bring munchies around frequently.

No doubt. Now all you get is fake Cheese-its and some dude telling you to turn off your phone. Twisted Evil
